Scripting Platform Plug-Ins allow 3rd party scripting platforms to be leveraged—along with their associated libraries, packages and modules—in the Inference environment. The following scripting platforms currently available, or in development, are pluggable with Inference:
R |
The R scripting platform is the open source implementation of the S scripting language for statistical computation and graphics developed by the R-project. The platform is comprised of a run-time environment and a powerful core library of functions, which can be extended with over 1,000 user-submitted packages of specialized methods. |
S-plus |
The S-Plus scripting platform is the commercial implementation of the S scripting language for statistical computation and graphics developed by Insightful. The platform is comprised of a run-time environment, a graphical user interface and a core library of functions, which can be extended by using R packages. |
CPython |
The CPython scripting platform is the leading open source implementation of the high-level Python language for general purpose computing. The platform is comprised of a run-time environment, with strong support for integration with other languages and tools, comes with extensive standard and user-supplied libraries. |
MATLAB |
The MATLAB scripting platform is a proprietary environment for numerical computing using a high-level technical computing language. The platform is comprised of a run-time environment, an interactive environment for algorithm development, and an extensive collection of functions for data visualization, data analysis and numeric computation. MATLAB can be extended by using proprietary or user-contributed toolboxes for specialized applications. |
F# |
The F# platform is a new Microsoft .NET Framework programming language that aims to combine type safety, performance, and scripting with the powerful and robust Common Language Runtime. More specifically, F# is a scripted/functional/imperative/object-oriented programming language that is capable of performing complex scientific and engineering computational activities in an efficient manner. |
dynamic VB |
The dynamic VB scripting platform is proprietary implementation of a subset of the next version of Visual Basic 10 for dynamic computing. The platform is built on top of the Dynamic Language Runtime, provides support for Visual Studio, and enables native access to the libraries and languages of the .NET framework. |
IronPython |
The IronPython scripting platform is an open source implementation of the Python language for general purpose computing. The platform is built on top of the Dynamic Language Runtime, provides a standard Python library, provides support for Visual Studio, enables native access to the .NET framework, and enables use of most user-supplied Python libraries. |
IronRuby |
The IronRuby scripting platform is an open source implementation of the Ruby language for general purpose computing. The platform is built on top of the Dynamic Language Runtime, provides a standard Ruby library, provides support for Visual Studio, enables native access to the .NET framework, and enables use of most user-supplied Ruby libraries. |
Managed JScript |
The managed JScript scripting platform is a proprietary implementation of the ECMA-262 (Edition 3) scripting language. The platform is built on top of the Dynamic Language Runtime, provides a standard JScript library, provides support for Visual Studio, and enables native access to the .NET framework. |
